Cycling has come into style but we’re going to give you the reasons why you would like to go on two wheels.

Tired of hearing you have to practice exercise’ Why not give a try and start riding a bike? Lots of people have already joined this ecological fashion which lets you get on foot without noticing, while you contribute to the environment at the same time.

Take advantage of the good weather to move on two wheels through the city, the beach or the mountainside, and become an eco-cosmopolitan. But, if you haven’t made your mind up yet, keep an eye on it because several studies show the health benefits riding a bike provides.

“Those who ride bikes are saving hospital visits” as says Dr. Proböse, president of the Health Center of German Sport University, and author of the report “Health and Bike”. Cycling has nothing but advantages, even for those that consider themselves already old.

Now we are going to show you the reasons for start cycling:

1 – Cycling regularly reduces the risk of stroke by 50%.

2 – Reduces LDL cholesterol (the bad).

3 – Strengthens the lower back and prevents the appearance of herniated discs by adopting proper posture (with the torso leaning slightly forward) and regular movements of the leg, as it keeps the backbone protected from vibrations and contusions.

4- Stimulates the small muscles of the thoracic vertebrae.

5- Prevents the impact on the knees, protecting them, as 75% of the weight loads on the seat.

6- Stimulates the immune system because phagocytes (white blood cells that “eat” microorganisms – such as bacteria- and cancer cells) are mobilised with each pedal.

7- Reduces stress and oxygenates the brain, and allows you to think more clearly.

8- Studies have shown that people who cycle regularly have fewer psychological illnesses and lower risk of becoming depressed.

9- Releases endorphins (happiness hormones). Do not go over your limits to prevent form the adverse opposite effect.

10- The benefits of cycling are achieved after 20 minutes, so experts recommend doing between 45 and 60 minutes, 3 times a week.
